Hearing aids

A hearing aid is a small electronic device that you wear in or behind your ear. It makes some sounds louder so that a person with hearing loss can listen, communicate, and participate more fully in daily activities. A hearing aid can help people hear more in both quiet and noisy situations. However, only about one out of five people who would benefit from a hearing aid actually uses one.

Here is a brief introduction to the different hearing aid styles on offer:

iic-in-situ

Invisible-In-Canal (IIC)

This is our most discreet style available. The hearing aid is custom built to sit deep in the ear canal out of sight and out of mind. As the hearing aid sits in the ear canal, the benefits of the natural acoustics of the outer ear are retained. The hearing aid sits out of the way of face masks, glasses etc.

cic-in-situ

Completely-In-Canal (CIC)

A CIC hearing aid sits in the entrance of the ear canal offering a very discreet solution with the potential for an additional programme button for user control.

itc-in-situ

In-The-Canal (ITC)

An ITC hearing aid is customised to sit in the canal and “bowl” part of the ear. Whilst being relatively small, it is large enough to house a rechargeable battery and dual microphones as well as being capable of connecting directly to a smart device. An ITC can be colour matched to the user’s skin tone or come in a stylish black finish giving a modern aesthetic similar to a music earbud.

ite-in-situ

In-The-Ear (ITE)

An ITE hearing aid is the largest custom style and an excellent choice for those with poor hand dexterity. Like the ITC it can be rechargeable, have dual microphones to improve listening in noise and can connect directly to a smart device. It’s larger size shell has the ability to house a telecoil to enable access to loop systems.

ric-in-situ

Receiver-In-Canal (RIC)

Some individuals prefer the more traditional approach of having the bulk of their hearing aid behind their ear rather than in their ear. The RIC achieves this whilst providing a small, discreet but powerful solution. It can be rechargeable, features dual microphones and has full wireless capabilities as well as telecoil options.
